Leanna believes that we grow through what we go through. She strives to work with others to create collaborative and meaningful relationships and to help make a positive difference in their lives. Her belief is that healing takes place when individuals have the power to control their thoughts and are mindful of what is going on between their mind and body that affects their emotions and behaviors. As quoted from The Body Keeps the Score, “you can be fully in charge of your life only if you can acknowledge the reality of your body, in all its visceral dimensions.”
Leanna holds a BA in Psychology and is currently a student at Athabasca University completing her MA in Counselling. Leanna works to help clients through all aspects of their lives to help them develop or find their strengths, reach their goals, and/or to assist her clients with their concerns. She looks at working with her clients through a non-judgemental, culturally sensitive, and safe environment. She understands that each individual is unique and collaborates with her clients to develop meaningful solutions and connections. Leanna also aims to tailor each session accordingly to her client’s needs and preferences.
Leanna is currently developing her skills in a variety of therapeutic interventions and techniques in order to meet the needs of her clients. These include techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Leanna provides counselling services to adolescents and adults. She is interested in working with those with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship issues, and trauma.
