Meet Starr
Starr provides counseling services through phone and video to clients across Alberta, and she is also available for in-person sessions in Calgary, AB. Specializing in working with youth (12+) and adults individually, Starr adopts a strength-based, trauma-informed approach.
Guided by a commitment to fostering client connection, understanding, and non-judgmental collaboration, Starr facilitates self-reflection. Her primary focus areas include addressing feelings of hopelessness, meaninglessness, and existential crises. Starr takes a relational approach, helping clients explore and enrich their relationships with both themselves and others.
Starr's counseling style is person-centered, integrating various therapeutic approaches to establish meaningful connections with clients. Drawing inspiration from existentialism, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and other modalities, she tailors her methods to meet the unique needs of each client.
With over three years of experience supporting individuals facing challenges such as homelessness, mental health issues, and addiction, Starr is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. As a counseling student intern at the Counselling Support Centre, Starr is a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
The Counseling Support Centre's intern program, under the supervision of registered clinical counselor Ryan James, enables Starr to offer affordable counseling services to clients across Alberta.
